Aquatic Therapy
Aquatic Therapy takes advantage of the many properties of water, including buoyancy, to provide numerous benefits:
increases Strength with reduced joint pressure- Decreases Joint Swelling and Pain via hydrostatic pressure support
- Increases Circulation by bringing greater flow of blood to and from the extremities
- Improves Balance and Coordination without the worry of falling
- Enhances Weight Bearing tolerance by utilizing different depths of the pool
- Provides an environment for early return to Sports Specific Training
- Increases Cardiovascular Endurance through high repetition, light-load exercise
- Increases Kinesthetic/Proprioceptive Input for greater balance and movement sensitivity
- Increases Range of Motion using buoyancy to assist stretching
- Maintains Overall Fitness through deloaded aerobic exercising with reduced stress to joints and muscles
- Improves muscle stretch in all planes of movement through repetitive, gentle resistance
